Candidate Eligibility

To sit for the CPOM certification examination, candidates must demonstrate foundational skills, professional experience, and personal ethics consistent with the purpose of the certification. 

In general, each candidate must:

• Have no felony record 
• Be able to obtain licensure in their own operating area, if required 
• Provide documentation showing completion of a protection training program of at least 100 hours 
• Have verifiable and satisfactory work history in the protection field

Candidates must have at least:

• Two years of full-time experience in the protection field, or 
• Four years of part-time experience in the protection field

Some geographic areas may require up to 150 hours of training in order to obtain licensure to work as a protection specialist. For example, certain jurisdictions, such as those operating under UK SIA requirements, may require additional training hours.
