The CPOM certification examination is designed to assess a candidate’s knowledge, professional judgment, and understanding of protective operations.

Similar to other security assessment instruments, the certification test should include no fewer than 200 questions covering areas of importance in the protection field.

The examination is divided into two primary sections.

The first 100 questions focus on general knowledge and skills related to employment in the candidate’s geographic region.

This section may include topics such as:

• Regional laws and regulations 
• Professional ethics 
• Protection principles 
• Operational planning 
• Local security industry standards 
• Candidate responsibilities within their operating area 

The second 100 questions focus on the candidate’s specific subject matter area.

These questions may relate to one or more of the following areas:

• The protection of government and diplomatic officials.

• The protection of key military or diplomatic personnel in combat theatres.

• The protection of corporate executives, business leaders, and other high-value private sector clients.

• The protection of individuals employed in the entertainment, sports, or public-facing industries.

Testing will be conducted online and presented in the candidate’s native language whenever possible.
